Happy Clients

I now ride everyday…

Just writing to say thank you so much for working with me over the past month in my bike training. It has been a really rewarding experience in that I now ride everyday; if it’s even part way to where ever I have to go.  Yesterday after taking the route Ben showed us I decided to detour and take the Hudson river park route, then on to the Brooklyn Bridge! If it wasn’t for the rain and my first flat tire I wouldn’t have stopped riding :)

I  hope you all continue to do what you are doing and I will tell every one I know about Green Cyclists.

Thank you so much and let’s all continue to advocate for a greener NYC!

From 0 to 198 in two weeks…

I wanted to learn how to ride a road bike so that I could begin training for a triathlon.  I went from not knowing how to clip in (or even what that meant) to riding 198 miles in mountainous terrain…in under 2 weeks.  Green Line made that possible.

There were lots of steps to get me to that point–and they were presented in practical, small, bites that made me feel comfortable and most importantly, safe.  Learning how to clip in was the hardest–and truthfully, I fell a few times (or just stopped counting).  That said, I couldn’t have asked for kinder, or more good-humored–not to mention patient–coaches as I dealt with the humiliation of falling off a bike.  In the end, I think I even learned to laugh at myself.

Secondly, I wanted to get to Central Park to train–but first I had to learn how to avoid getting hit by a taxi, where to ride on the street, and how to avoid crashing into droves of tourists.  From there, I was told where the “slow lane” is in the park, how to look, signal and turn, and how to pass others (on the rare occasion that was the case).

And finally, no one laughed at me when I got my gears confused–or asked which shifter controlled which wheel; what happens when my butt hurts; or how to drink from a water bottle while cycling.

No matter your goal, learning curve, or athletic prowess–if you want straightforward, practical and custom-designed bike tutoring; I highly recommend Green Line.  Learning something new when you think you’re grown up is always challenging–but I found friendly faces, and lots of laughter, with the folks here.

What’s not to love?

All I have to say is what’s not to love!

Actually, who am I kidding I could fill ten text boxes with eloquent words of inspiration, coaching mantras, sage technique-focused advice, and refrains of praise for Bill’s commitment as a coach, enthusiasm as a fellow athlete, and patience as both.

I have been working with Bill one-on-one for a little over a month after working with him in the team setting for far longer.  Bill is the type of coach who will meet you in the dark, in the cold, in the wind and ice, on holidays and on birthdays because he knows how much it means to his athletes that they do everything possible to reach their goals; no matter how big or small or insignificant they seem to most.

He understands what it takes to get across a finish line that seems so far because he has been that athlete himself many times before.  Bill coaches with the perfect mix of humor and seriousness, tough love and understanding, realism and idealism.  I can tell you first hand that Bill has been one the top coaches in a team of a select few who have helped me produce noticeable progress in my bike handling, cycling technique, sustainable power, descending skills, and most importantly helped me believe in my own abilities and see myself as a “cyclist” and not long from now (and not maybe, but definitely) an Ironman!

Outstanding Coaching

Bill is an outstanding coach. Whether you are an experienced rider or someone who has never gotten on a bike, he is one of the most well rounded coaches that I have worked with. He is personable and sensitive to his athlete’s personality and style. This is very unique. He motivates me mentally and technically. He gives excellent feedback after our rides reviewing  the sessions successes and opportunities.Every time we ride there is learning and a feeling that  I am 1 step closer to my ultimate goal.

Patient and Motivating

No long spiel here, Bill is the most patient bike coach ever! He motivates me so much that I agree to bike with him in sub degree temperatures. And he challenges me to channel my inner roadie. Bike cleaning lessons are a true bonus!
